A diploma in Engineering is offered by government and private colleges. There are Private colleges that are directly admitted students into diplomas in engineering colleges. And to get admission in government colleges you appear in the examination conducted by government colleges. In India, there are various examinations conducted by the state government to admission into the polytechnic colleges.
There is no entrance examination to get admission to ITI colleges. To getting admission to ITI colleges fills application forms generally open in June. 
Vocational education is education that prepares people to work as a technician or to take up employment in a skilled craft or trade as a tradesperson. There are large numbers of vocational courses in online and offline mode.
